Argila Smoking 101 (a photo how-to)

with one comment

Step one: order some. Choose a flavor. Maybe a good ol’ standby like mint. Perhaps something fruity, like strawberry or cherry. If you’re feeling more adventurous, try the guava. Mix and match can be fun too; lemon-mint is like inhaling a satisfying tea.

While you wait, take in the view. We had this sweet one from our second floor restaurant looking out over downtown Amman:

Once your Hookah arrives, load it with some coals.

Let your waiter heat them up a bit. This consists of him sucking down a big gulp of sheesha. Don’t worry, he’s a pro. You’re be in good hands.

Burn baby burn

Maybe take in the traditional folk music while he readies the water pipe.

Next, warm up those cheeks and lips for a night of smoking (practicing your best duckface works pretty well).

Take a deep breath. Place lips to noozle and inhale at a smooth, steady cadence.

Be sure to practice good Argila etiquette though. No blowing smoke in your friend’s face.

Hookah foul

Remember to get your requisite mid-exhale photo (hello facebook profile pic?!)

Now dance!

On tables if the mood strikes you.

People will give you a hand.

Now return to step 1.
